Transformers War For Cybertron Kingdom Trailer Teases The Beast Wars

In July 2020, Netflix released the first part of the new CG animated series Transformers War For Cybertron with the six-episode first chapter; Siege. They followed this up with the second chapter, Earthrise, on 30 December 2020. Now, the third and final instalment, Kingdom, will arrive later this month on 29 July 2021, and the first full trailer has been unveiled.

At the end of the last chapter, Megatron’s forces had finally caught up with the fleeing Autobot remnants, as the Decepticon leader and Optimus Prime fought over the Matrix of Leadership, only for their ships to crash land on the surface of an alien world, which turns out to be an ancient Earth. The big twist was that there were already Transformers there, as Earthrise ended with a velociraptor that was actually a Dinobot from the iconic Beast Wars animated series.

While the original Beast Wars animated series was actually set 300 years after the events of the original G1 Transformers, the big twist in Transformers War For Cybertron Kingdom is that the Autobots are now fighting side by side with the Maximals against the Decepticons and Predacons. The trailer also features several returning familiar faces, including Galvatron and Nemesis Prime.

Polygon Pictures (Star Wars Resistance, Knights Of Sidonia) is the animation studio behind the series. Transformers veteran F.J. DeSanto (Transformers: Titans Return, Transformers: Power Of The Primes) serves as showrunner on the series with several contributing writers, including George Krstic (Megas XLR), Gavin Hignight (Transformers: Cyberverse), and Brandon Easton (Marvel’s Agent Carter, Transformers: Rescue Bots).

Given that the next live-action Transformers movie will also be adapting Beast Wars, it looks like the beloved series from the 90s is staging a comeback into pop culture consciousness a few decades later. In the meantime, check out the trailer below:
