Pixar just dropped the official trailer for its new 3D animated film Turning Red, which is about an Asian 13-year old girl named Mei Lee (voiced by Rosalie Chiang) who can transform into a giant red panda when she gets too excited. Or anxious. Which is basically almost every day in her life because being a teenager in the 90s has its own sets of issues and quirks.

It’s clearly a metaphor for teenagers hitting puberty, with a narrative nod on how Asian kids have to deal with living with tiger moms, which in this context is voiced by Sandra Oh.
