PlatinumGames Worked On Parts Of Final Fantasy 16
In a recent livestream of Final Fantasy 16’s pre-launch celebration show, PlatinumGames has revealed themselves to be part of the game’s development process.
PlatinumGames CEO Atsushi Inaba said in a pre-recorded video that Astral Chain director and Nier: Automata key member Takahisa Taura has led a small PlatinumGames team to work on parts of Final Fantasy 16. We’re guessing it’s the combat and fighting parts since that’s what the studio is renowned for. It’s also a key reason why the game’s action scenes are looking pretty sharp and epic in the first place.
Other key folks include Kingdom Hearts 4 co-director Tai Yasue, who also had a hand in making parts of Final Fantasy 16 with another small in-house Square Enix team.
Final Fantasy 16 will be out on 22 June, with the demo coming out at 4pm later today, 12 June. The pre-launch livestream is going on as we speak.

[…] In lieu of Final Fantasy 16’s release later this month, we figured it’s high time to dish out our thoughts on which older Final Fantasy game is worth going into. This is especially if you want to know more about its lineage and feel, given that the series has always reinvented itself and try something new with each standalone entry. The fact that there are too many of them -from mothership entries to spin-offs- also doesn’t help. […]
