SoundScape: Yoko Shimomura’s Greatest Hits
With Kingdom Hearts 3 out in a few days (or right now if you’re from Japan), it’s time to look back and remember what made the series so great in the first place. No, it’s not just the gameplay and the whole Disney/Square Enix collaboration. It’s also about the music.
Composed by Yoko Shimomura, Kingdom Hearts emanates a ton of her trademark piano compositions and opera-savvy style of music-making. But she didn’t get her start from the series, oh no. Throughout her time in Capcom up until that point, she’s been developing her craft with what limited technology she had to work with at the time.
So here’s a big-ass SoundScape mixtape video tour to showcase that, as well as her works post-Kingdom Hearts 1.
