Monster Hunter Movie Roaring Into Cinemas Next Year
By Alleef Ashaari|February 8, 2019|0 Comment
Monster Hunter fans will be oh-so-happy to learn that the Monster Hunter movie by Resident Evil writer-director Paul W.S. Anderson will be roaring its way into cinemas next year on 4 September 2020 (via Deadline).
Alongside its release date, the official synopsis for the Monster Hunter movie has also been released, and here it is:
Behind our world, there is another — a world of dangerous and powerful monsters that rule their domain with deadly ferocity.
When Lt. Artemis (Jovovich) and her loyal soldiers are transported from our world to the new world, the unflappable lieutenant receives the shock of her life.
In her desperate battle for survival against enormous enemies with incredible powers and unstoppable, terrifying attacks, Artemis will team up with a mysterious man (Tony Jaa) who has found a way to fight back.
That… doesn’t really sound much like Monster Hunter but the Resident Evil movies weren’t exactly known for being faithful to the source material either. The upcoming movie will star Milla Jovovich, Tip “T.I.†Harris, Meagan Good, Diego Boneta, Josh Helman, Jin Au-Yeung, and Ron Perlman.
I’m not a Monster Hunter fan, but even I know that soldiers with guns shooting down a Rathalos only counts as a very loose adaptation. Monster Hunter World is now one of Capcom’s biggest games in its long history of making games, and I’m sure that they wouldn’t want to squander any of that goodwill so soon.
To remind you of how ‘good’ and ‘amazing’ the Monster Hunter movie already looks like, here are some of the set shots that have popped up on social media:
