Netflix has announced that the animated movie Dragon Quest Your Story will be launching on the streaming service next month on 13 February 2020. It originally premiered in Japan back in August 2019.

Loosely based on 1992’s Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride, Dragon Quest Your Story was produced by Shirogumi and Robot Communications. The official synopsis of the movie on Netflix states:

“Luca follows in his father’s footsteps to rescue his mother from evil Ladja.

Finding the heavenly hero who wields the Zenithian sword is his only hope.”

Dragon Quest Your Story isn’t the only recent Japanese animated movie to be released on Netflix. Just yesterday the Ni No Kuni movie premiered on the streaming service as well, merely several months after its release in Japan.

Dragon Quest Your Story garnered a total of US$11,114,288 in Japan during its theatrical release, but many fans and viewers were not happy about the plot twist ending, which you can read about here.
