Earn More Overwatch Cosmetics (And A Switch) In Ashe’s Mardi Gras Challenge

Ashe’s Mari Gras Challenge is now available across PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch. Running from 26 February to 10 March 2020, the event offers the chance to earn in-game rewards, real-life gifts, and introduces a new Experimental mode.

Let’s start with the Experimental mode since that sounds like the most interesting of the bunch. Experimental mode allows the Overwatch team to try out “major gameplay changes”, but unlike the public test realm, this mode is available for players in the live game itself. Furthermore, you get to keep your progression from the Experimental mode.

Blizzard notes that the changes introduced in Experimental mode won’t necessarily make it into the live game, but it looks like a fun addition nevertheless. The current test is called Triple Damage. No, it doesn’t triple your weapon damage, but “defaults team roles to one tank, three damage, and two supports”.

The event period will also bring with it weekly challenges. Players will have get the highest number of wins in “designated game modes”, which are Quick Play, Competitive Play, and Arcade in this case. Gifts will be awarded to the top 10.

The player with the most wins gets themselves a Nintendo Switch, while the other nine gets a Blizzard Balance of US$50 each. That’s pretty neat!

Ashe’s Mardi Gras Challenge, now live on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch!

Now, for the in-game rewards. They come in the form of the usual suspects, namely sprays, icons, and skins. Regardless of whether you earn your victory in Quick Play, Competitive, or Arcade, a total of three wins will nail you two player icons, while six wins will give you one new spray.

Finally, nine wins will give you an Epic skin for Ashe and Bob.

If new sprays are the main thing you want, you’re better off not playing the game. Instead, Blizzard suggests that you watch “Twitch streamers before, during or after matches”. Whenever you tune in to participating Twitch Streamers during the event period, you get Twitch drops that provide you with said sprays.

Watching for two hours will give you one spray, four hours gives you two sprays, and finally, six hours gives you three sprays.
