The OG VTuber Is Trying To Sell You NFTs

Et tu, virtual anime girl?

The original VTuber, Kizuna AI, is going to sell NFTs to her fanbase. The virtual idol has announced a hiatus from streaming on YouTube; she will be connecting with her fans via the metaverse and NFTs transactions, with the latter being her primary focus.

“I think you’ve been hearing words such as metaverse and NFT recently. It sounds complicated but new and fun at the same time. I want to bring things like that closer to people and experience new fun things together.

I want to be more in part of everyone’s daily lives.”

While the subject of NFTs has been vague and controversial, it can be a good monetary avenue for artists. Seeing as Kizuna AI has her own artwork, or at least owns the stuff that she has commissioned other people to make for her brand, this seems like a logical choice after retiring from the VTuber scene. The Kizuna AI team has dabbled in NFTs earlier this year, selling ownership receipts to a set of custom avatars back in September via a Metaani partnership.

Kizuna AI has been a VTuber since 2016, being the original person to coin the term before others like the Hololive company started entering the picture.
