Sony has renewed the Psygnosis trademark and logo in North America.

According to business analyst Roberto Serrano, the Psygnosis name was renewed in December 2021. This may just be a straightforward renewal to prevent other folks from using the Psygnosis name and classic owl logo in North American regions.

Despite Sony acquiring the company’s successor studio Firesprite, this is just a 10-year renewal process Sony goes through to claim the Psygnosis name. The last time they did this was back in 7 July 2011.

The Psygnosis brand is legendary back in the 80s and 90s days of computer gaming, with the company making titles like Ballistix and Shadow of the Beast, as well as for Lemmings, Puggsy, and Wipeout. The sci-fi racing game, not the obstacle course show.

The successor studio, Firesprite, is working on the upcoming PSVR2 title Horizon: Call of the Mountain.
